    Responsibilities

    • Oversees Claims staff in subrogation activities:
      • Evaluates legal liability and aggressively pursues, negotiates and resolves subrogation collection.
      • Secures additional information / investigation from referring office when an on-site investigation is necessary.
      • Communicates with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, attorneys and underwriters to obtain / provide the necessary information.
      • Maintains and controls assigned subrogation files and diaries.
      • Assigns lawsuits to counsel and oversees case handling:
        • Monitors application of Litigation Management Program.
        • May attend pre-trials, trials and settlement conferences.
        • Puts pleas out for arbitration.
      • May process loss and expense payments. May assign claim numbers and / or initiate manual payments.
      • Maintains current knowledge of law and case decisions affecting appropriate jurisdictions.
    • Approves expense bills. Ensures that incoming checks are routed and applied in a timely fashion. Coordinates recovery accounting activities.
    • Coordinates the work activities of the unit. Responsible for day-to-day work and procedures. Assigns and checks work.
    • Responsible for performance, development and coaching of staff (i.e., hiring, firing, performance management, salary increases, etc.).
    • Provides technical guidance to staff.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
    Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.
    Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience; exhibits leadership qualities.
