    Responsibilities

    Administers and participates in the development and implementation of compliance programs for Claims Department. Ensures compliance with the claims-related laws, regulations and rules of federal and state regulatory

    • Responsible for auditing claim files for compliance with state statutes and regulations.
    • Presents clear, concise and factual audit reports to Claims Dept. that enable fair and relevant decisions to be made.
    • Emphasis on regulatory research including compilation and maintenance of compliance support materials.
    • Monitors new laws and regulations including updating compliance support materials.
    • Handles interactions with regulatory bodies, claims department staff and managers pertaining to claims regulatory matters.
    • Creates forms and reports to comply with new or existing insurance regulatory requirements.
    • Trains claims staff on existing and new statutory or regulatory requirements on ad-hoc basis.
    • Administers and enforces claims compliance 

    As necessary, assists manager with responses to regulatory matters and/or inquiries from the various state departments of insurance and/or internal and external customers.

    With department staff, develops and identifies opportunities to modify and improve audit processes.

    Maintains and retrieves material from departmental databases and

    Provides back-up coverage for other Claims Compliance

    Demonstrates expert knowledge of the organization, regulatory agencies and current trends in ensuring compliance.

    Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Adapts and becomes proficient in other computer programs and software applications as needed.

    Performs other duties as

    Job requires up to 10% travel.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Legal background is a plus.

    Field of Study:

    Business, Liberal Arts, Risk Management, or related discipline.

    Experience:

    5 or more years of legal/regulatory compliance and/or insurance claims-related (including workers’ compensation, liability insurance, or other property & casualty lines of business) experience.
